And I also picked up a pinch-hit, this time for agameofscones, who wrote the fantastic Simple Gifts, which was a pleasure to remix. I ended up going back in time for this one, telling a childhood story, but it ended up being far sadder than I'd intended. I still like it, though.

And I introduced a new challenge into Sherlock Remix this year, based on the wonderful girl_wonder's spn_retold challenge. Participants were invited to write a story based on a single prompt: there's an intruder in 221B. Three stories were written, and mine was one of them. And this was my second pinch-hit, for yalublyutebya's delightful story Friends with Benefits. I had a very clear image in my head of Sherlock's mind palace, particularly a clerestory (a row of windows high above eye-level, meant for letting in light and/or air). This was the first pinch-hit I picked up: a remix of chibifukurou's Of Brothers (and Side-kicks).
